Sunday morning started with a quick transport for Winston, an 8-month-old Dalmatian whose owner made the heartbreaking decision to surrender him because of their ongoing medical issues.

Winston is a handsome boy with beautiful multicolored spots that make him just as unique as his personality. He's a little shy when meeting new people, but it doesn't take long before his sweet, curious nature shines through.

He was an excellent passenger, happily taking in everything happening outside the windows. He's also quite the conversationalist—we had a pretty entertaining back-and-forth all the way from Fort Drum to Port St. Lucie. Winston walks nicely on a leash and clearly understands the assignment when he reaches the grass, taking care of business like a pro.

Of course, every good road trip needs a navigator, and Winston took that responsibility very seriously. He checked in with me throughout the drive, making sure I hadn't somehow missed a turn.
