Apollo's owner found me on Rover.com. She needed a pet sitter who could give Apollo his evening dose of seizure medication while she and her fiancee were tying the knot.

Apollo is a sweet senior guy who was sound asleep when I walked in. He didn't hear me, and didn't move at first, which scared me. Eventually he sensed I was there and woke up looking at me like "who the heck are you?". I spent some time earning his trust before having to give him his pill. I sat on the floor with him, petting him and scratching him under his chin.

Then came the moment of truth. The medication was administered on its own, no pill pockets or Cheez Whiz or something yummy to hide the nasty, bitter taste. I placed the pill in his mouth, apologized for how bad it must taste, and held his mouth closed until he swallowed it.

I gave him his dinner in his bowl and topped off his water. There were also 2 cats who needed their dinner put in their bowls, but I never saw them. You know how cats are!

Apollo did his business in the fenced in backyard, but I'm a helicopter pet sitter - no animal is ever left unattended outside.

It's hard to see against his black fur, but Apollo's collar for the wedding day was a black bow tie!
