July 8th began the #cleartheshelters adoption event, with reduced adoption fees until the end of the month on cats & dogs over 1 year of age. While there are many wonderful, deserving animals currently waiting for new homes at the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast, there is one in particular who stands out - Jamal. Jamal's kennel is the first one visitors see as they enter the dog adoption floor. He sits calmly on his bed, hoping to be noticed. Hoping to get some attention. Hoping to be chosen. He has been patiently checking off the days since he first arrived at the shelter 877 days ago. That's equivalent to:

  • 125 weeks and 2 days
  • 21,048 hours
  • 1,262,880 minutes
  • 75,772,800 seconds

Jamal is loved by shelter staff and volunteers, and we want so badly for this resilient dog to finally leave the shelter environment behind and sleep the peaceful sleep of a dog given his chance at happiness in a forever home.

Can you be Jamal's hero? Can I sweeten the deal for you with a monthly delivery of tennis balls? A bag of dog food? Discounted pet sitting? If you're not able to adopt at this time, you can still help Jamal by sharing this post. There has to be someone out there who needs Jamal as much as he needs them E
