Whew! What a busy December it’s been! The holiday season is busy for everyone, but add in helping family move and spending my birthday weekend out of town, and the month has just flown by. There’s always time for shelter pet photography though!
The shelter where I volunteer has a wonderful program called Home For The Holidays. It gives shelter pets a chance to spend the holidays out of the shelter kennels and in warm and loving homes instead. It’s also a great opportunity to “test drive” a pet if you were thinking about adopting, but aren’t sure how the new pet would fit into your family. I would encourage you to check with your local shelter to see if they have a similar program, even if it’s just to foster for a few weeks. But you never know, you might experience some special holiday magic and end up turning a foster home into a forever home! (it’s happened to me 3 times)
