HOW ARE CATS JUST SO...PERFECT?
They don't even really try.
This picture of one of my pet sitting clients, Connor, captures something cats do better than almost any other animal: they can make an ordinary moment feel almost sacred.
An upward gaze, relaxed whiskers, and the soft pink nose catching the light give the impression that Connor is completely captivated by something just out of frame and makes you wonder what he's seeing.
Cats have an incredible ability to make us stop and notice the little things. They can spend five minutes watching a sunbeam crawl across the floor or stare at a moth like it's the most important event of the day. In a world that's always rushing, they seem to exist in the present moment.
This picture of Connor also highlights why cats are so photogenic -
His clean white fur contrasting against the dark background.
His pink nose becomes an instant focal point.
The upward angle makes him look curious and almost hopeful.
The messy orange yarn ball in the foreground also tells a story: "yes, I absolutely conquered this thing."
Back to the original question though - how are cats so perfect?
I think it's because they don't try to impress us. They simply exist exactly as they are. They sleep when they're tired. They play when they're excited. They seek affection when they want it, and solitude when they need it. There's something refreshing about an animal that's completely authentic.
And every now and then, they look up like this...
